Reflection on 2023

Reflection on 2023

HAPPY NEW YEAR! If you are one receiving this warm wish, your 2023 must have been an unforgettable year of happiness, achievement and success, and I am confident that 2024 will be another fulfilling and enriching year.

I am glad that you are here to reflect on 2023 with me. The end of 2023 exactly marks my 2nd year in the civil service. The year specifically was the moment of becoming independent, taking risks and being decisive. My boss and colleagues entrusted me with a lot of projects, responsibilities and assignments while I was on my own most of the time. Nevertheless, I am very grateful for all these opportunities and the moral trust they have in me. I have become wiser, more knowledgeable, more independent and more capable compared to the previous year. No doubt!

Being able to enlarge the social circle has been another mark of the year. I have met many people in the professional field and have now become friends for life. We have exchanged numerous disagreements and discriminations professionally but emptied n-fold Lagers, hit parties, sang our lungs out and shared imperfections beyond the four walls of the office.
I would define 2023 as “embracing imperfection” when it comes to personal life. Most of the time, I used to tell myself that if it can't be perfect, why would I even begin? That’s why, I didn’t even dare to write a line in this blog the whole 2023. Other times, I would remain in my cozy bed questioning why to go for a walk if I cannot continue it. Nevertheless, when Sam Bennett said “Once you begin working on yourself, the first thing you need to surrender is the idea of perfection”, I have learnt seeking perfection has been an insidious venom within me. Now, 2024 is the year to go head-on hard with all the imperfect appearances, characteristics and intentions.

Looking forward, 2024 will be the inflection year of my life. There are certain numbers of decisions I have to make both professionally and personally. With lots of lessons learnt and failures embraced in 2023, I am here to build an empire of my own. At the same time, I would love to see you prospering and shining. Best wishes and god bless all of us in 2024.
